How Much Do We Spend on Social Security?

For Fiscal Year 2009, Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid accounted for 39% of all Federal spending.

US Federal Spending

Here is a chart of the US population by age:

Age of US Population

Notice the number of people currently over age 65 relative to the number of people under age 65.

Something has gotta give.

  1. Great stuff here Richard. In addition to your info here regarding how out of balance things have gotten in this country just on the financial security side, I also believe that people now have to get focused on their reality check, instead of their social security check…which in most cases won’t be a reality, as you show in these diagrams.

So what’s the answer… take control of your own financial lives for heaven’s sake. We all have the ability to make our own choices on how we live our lives. You can choose to live needing social security checks, or not…it’s up to you.
If you aren’t making more by next year , which is right around the corner, and you don’t even have enough to live on right now… with or without s.s., you will be in even bigger financial tax stress because this just another one of the many things looming overhead at the 100 foot level over all legal citizens heads in the US.

People need help finding their ways to make better decisions on how to prosper and earn a living at every age…everyone! Getting involved with causes can be a rewarding way to get the focus off your problem and put it on others who have no choice …like children.
Kids need help with getting the essential foods to stay alive because every 6 seconds……a child dies from malnutrition in this world.

Giving in, to think you need help from s.s., is a curse which people put on themselves. They can be helped out with coaching, mentoring, and good sound guidance on what they can to to make a change in the world…for themselves AND others!
